RAVINDRA JADEJA: CAREER IN NUMBERS

Jadeja announced himself to the world after being second-in-command to fellow teammate and captain Virat Kohli in the 2008 U19 World Cup which India won. That success catapulted him to the consciousness of the national selectors and he made his debut a year later against Sri Lanka. Jadeja had a quiet start to his career before making a mark by scoring three triple centuries in first class cricket (you read that right), between 2011 and 2012 to establish himself as one of the top talents for the future.

What set Jadeja apart from his performances with a bat or a ball was his outstanding fielding ability. Considered by many as the best fielder in the world, Jadeja possesses the safest of hands and a rocket of a left arm which make him an impregnable commodity and a livewire on the field irrespective of his fielding position.

Ever since his Test debut in 2013, Jadeja has been an immovable presence in the team thanks to his ability to bat anywhere and his exceptional bowling skills which make him a priceless commodity, especially in the spin-friendly home and subcontinent conditions. After a strong start with the ball, Jadeja made up for it with consistent performances with the bat. In doing so, the all-rounder has notched up four Test centuries with a highest individual score of 175, which is the highest scorer for any player batting at 7 or lower. Jadeja is also the third Indian player (after Kapil Dev and R Ashwin) to have scored 3,000+ runs and taken 250+ wickets in Tests.

REAL ESTATE AND CARS

As one of the highest paid players in the game, Jadeja has also invested in the good life like most of his fellow cricketers. The 35-year-old lives with his family in a plush four-storey villa in the city of Ahmedabad.

The interiors contain a sprawling living room space and a number of rooms that are as big in their offering of space as they are in number, indicating the player’s desire to live larger-than-life.

Twitter/X – 5.6 million followers

Facebook – 10 million followers

While Jadeja is a social media delight with the cricketer often posting pictures of himself out on holiday, he has largely kept his family and his private life the way it’s meant to be, private. But a part of Jadeja’s popularity is also his wife, Rivaba Jadeja, who was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of the state of Gujarat from the Jamnagar North constituency. The couple got married in 2016 and welcomed a daughter, named Nidhyana, a year later.

Thanks to his all-round exploits and his ability to give one back to the opposition, Jadeja has received plenty of titles throughout his career. But the two most iconic titles bestowed upon him include the title of ‘Sir’. The title was given to him as an ode to his ability to dominate proceedings and stay a cut above the rest.

Like his former captain having his own title of Thala, Jadeja was christened the title of ‘Thalapathy’ (general, lieutenant) for his time and feats for the iconic yellow franchise. Even at 35, Jadeja is still among the fittest cricketers in the country and his continued excellence on the cricket field could bring more such eloquent titles to his name, and further elevate his net worth.
